First Daniel Lincoln (#135) of Arkansas crushed the competition in the 3000m steeplechase with a runaway 8:29.57 win. Then, less than 48 hours later, he returned to the track and opened a huge lead on the field in the mile, before fading slightly to finish 2nd in a PR 4:03.00.

Maurice Greene (#25) of HSI closed quickly on the anchor leg of the 4X100m relay, but it wasn't enough to catch TC Management's J.J. Johnson (#23). TC Management won in a world-leading time of 38.52, HSI was second in 38.75 and the USA Blue team, anchored by S. Wilson (#28) finished third in 38.83.

Former NCAA champion Toby Stevenson cleared 18' 8-1/4" to finish 2nd in the pole vault.

Meet directors typically don't like to field request for last-minute entries. But when the person making the request is all-everything champion Allen Johnson, somehow a lane is found. Alan returned the favor with an impressive 110H win in 13.42.

Kaaron Conwright (#88) edged '02 Mt. SAC champion J.J. Johnson (#94) by .01 second in winning the 100m with a time of 10.14 then.....

HSI's LaTasha Colander-Richardson (left) and USA Red team's Chryste Gaines went stride-for-stride down the homestretch on the anchor leg of the 4X100m relay, with Colander-Richardson edging out a .04 second win, 42.76 to HSI's 42.80.

Terrance Woods skied over 7' 3-1/4" to win the high jump.

Reese Hoffa's line-drive throwing style may look unusual, but it certainly is effective, as demonstrated by his first place finish in the shot with a toss of 67 3-1/4.

Four-time Mt. SAC shot champion John Godina didn't throw the shot this year, but he was on hand to keep watch over the competition.

John did enter the ring to contest the discus, finishing second with a throw of 210' 1".

Jason Tunks beat Godina by just 3 inches, winning the discus competition with a throw of 210' 4".

Nic Alexander (center) of Abilene Christian won the Olympic Development section of the 100m in 10.31. Teammate Christie VanWyk (left) finished 3rd in 10.40, while Ahmad Carrol of Arkansas (right) took 5th in 10.42.

Members of the U.S. National Red (1st place: 3:02.81) and
Blue (2nd place: 3:03.59) 4X400m relay teams enjoy a victory
lap together while showing the appreciative ladies in the crowd
the benefits of intensive weight room training.

Meet Director Scott Davis, seen here with 110H winner Allen Johnson, shamelessly jumped into any photo opportunity he could find on the infield.

Jaanuus Uudmae of Arkansas finished 7th in the triple jump, bouncing 52' 2".
Former UCLA 800m standout Jesse Strutzel showed some range by moving up to, and winning, the mile in 4:02.8.
Denis Kholev of Israel was one of four valuters to clear 18 feet. Kholev finished 4th with a mark of 18' 1/2".
Jerome Davis opened his outdoor season with a 5th place finish in the 400m in 46.37.
Jeff Ryan of USC cleared 17' 6-1/2" to finish in a four-way tie for 6th in the pole vault.
Sunny California weather is one of the attractions that draws many athletes and teams to Mt. SAC each year. Here as a heat of the women's 200m gets underway under perfect race conditions.
While outstanding individual performances abounded, relays are still the heart-and-soul of Mt. SAC. Action above is from the 4x400m relay run on the final day of competition, one of hundreds of relays run over two full weekends of events.
