  • Ato Bolden needed to run 9.93, a Trinidadian National Record, to edge Mike Marsh (9.95) in a great 100m
  • Carl Lewis blazed to a 20.19 200m victory
  • LaMont Smith won the 400m in 44.63; Kevin Little moved up to 400m and won his heat with a surprising PR of 44.77
  • Jason Pyrah set the still-standing meet record of 3:38.66 in the 1500m
  • Ryan Wilson won the 5000m in 13:28.6 over a great field that included Alan Culpepper (3rd, 13:31.7), Adam Goucher (5th, 13:33.3) and Meb Keflezighi (7th, 13:37.0)
  • Kamiel Maase of Holland won the 10000m in a time of 28:01.4
  • Mike Powell captured his final Mt. SAC long jump title, leaping 27-3 3/4
  • Anthony Washington tossed the discus 216-9
  • Chris Huffins racked up 8286w points on his way to the decathlon title
  • Lynn Jennings clocked 15:32.72 for the 5000m
  • Adriana Fernandez of Mexico won the 10000m in 31:53.36, a mark which remains the meet and stadium record
  • Tisha Waller captured the high jump as she and Amy Acuff cleared 6-4
  • Ramona Pagel won the last of her 10 Mt. SAC shot put titles with a throw of 59-11 3/4
