- The Santa Monica
Track Club quartet of Mike Marsh, Leroy Burrell, Floyd Heard and Carl
Lewis started off by winning the 4X100m relay in 37.79, a mark which
remains the meet and stadium record
- For an encore,
the same team doubled back to win the 4X200m relay in the World Record
time of 1:18.68 (a mark which remains the World Record to this day).
The second place World All-Star team also broke the previous World Record,
with John Regis recording a blazing 19.1 split on the anchor leg
- Mike Marsh took
a break from relay duties to win the 100m in 10.00
- Olga Appell broke
the meet and stadium records in the 10000m, clocking 32:03.42
- Tisha Waller broke
the meet and stadium records in the high jump with a leap of 6-5
- Two high school
meet records which stand to this day were set in the jumps: Jeremy Fischer
(high jump, 7-3) and Scott Slover (pole vault, 16-6 3/4)
