became the first sprinter to break 11 seconds for 100m, running a windy

- Chandra Cheeseborough
lowered the meet record at 400m to 51.05

Spencer, who later in the year would qualify for her third Olympic
team, won the high jump with a leap of 6-2 3/4
- Jackie
Joyner scored 6329 in the heptathlon

Germany won the shot with a toss of 66-0 1/2, a mark which remains the
meet and stadium record
