  • Don Quarrie captured his only individual Relays' title, winning the 100 yard dash in 9.3w
  • Milan Tiff bounded to a windy 55-2 1/4w victory in the triple jump
  • Byron Dyce took the 880 in 1:49.8
  • Doug Brown lowered the meet record in the steeplechase to 8:39.8
  • Al Feuerbach tossed the shot 69-11 3/4
  • Peter Farmer became the first hammer thrower to top 230 feet, throwing 230-1
  • Mary Decker set a stadium record while winning the 880y in 2:04.8
  • Francie Larrieu set a meet and stadium record in the mile, winning in 4:40.8. This is the oldest still-standing meet and stadium record for men or women
  • Maren Seidler upped the meet record in the shot put to 53-4 3/4
  • A high schooler by the name of Willie Banks gave notice of great things to come by winning the high school triple jump in 50-7 1/4
  • Payton Jordan set a world masters' record in the M50-59 age group by dashing 100 yards in 10.7
