  • Jay Silvester won the discus with a toss of 220-4, at the time the second longest throw ever by an American. He topped a great field, as six throwers bettered 200 feet. This was Jay's fifth Relays' victory
  • Chuck Smith and Don Quarrie both ran 9.3w in the 100y
  • John Mason took his third consecutive mile title in 4:10.9
  • Reynaldo Brown won the first of six consecutive Mt. SAC high jump titles, and tied the meet record, by clearing 7-1
  • Bob Seagren won his final Mt. SAC pole vault title, scaling 17-0
  • In the jumps, Arnie Robinson (long jump, 26-8w) and Milan Tiff (triple jump, 53-10w) each claimed their first Relays' title
  • Randy Matson threw 67-9 for the last of his three victories at Mt. SAC
  • George Frenn set a meet record in the hammer with a throw of 227-9
  • Chi Cheng rode the wind to a 10.4w victory in the 100y dash
  • Mable Fergerson won the first of three consecutive victories in the 220y/200m, dashing 23.9yw
  • Francie Larrieu notched her first Mt. SAC title, winning the mile in 4:49.7
