Whitney clocked 50.1y, the fastest 440H ever run at Mt. SAC

Young set a new meet record in the steeplechase, running 8:40.0
- Tim Danielson,
who in 1966 became one of only four high school athletes to break 4
minutes in the mile, moved up to 5000m and cruised to a 14:05.0 win
- Ken Moore won the
10,000m in 29:32.4
- Willie
Davenport
took the 120H in 13.8y
- Santa Clara became
the first 440 relay team to dip under 40 seconds at the Relays, clocking
39.9
- Ed Caruthers upped
his own meet record in the high jump, leaping 7' 3/4"
- Bob
Seagren also upped a meet record, this time in the pole vault, clearing
17' 1"
- Bob Beamon spanned
27' 4"w in the long jump
- Randy
Matson claimed his first shot put title, tossing 69' 10-1/2"

Toomey won the decathlon, scoring 7800 points
