- Bob Seagren, now at student at Mt. SAC, set a national Junior College pole vault record by clearing 16-0
- Fellow Mt. SAC student Don Shy won the 120H in 13.7w
- Shy and Seagren combined with two teammates to set a national Junior College record of 53.7 in the 480 yard shuttle hurdle relay
- Ralph Boston long jumped a windy 26' 5"w
- Jim Grelle took his 3rd mile title, running 4:00.3
- Ed Johnson and John Dobroth tied for first in the high jump, with both clearing 7' 0"
- Art Walker won the first of four consecutive triple jump titles, bounding 53" 1-1/2"w
- Jay Silvester made a rare foray to the shot circle and emerged victorious with a toss of 62' 2-1/2". He also took the discus title with a throw of 202' 11"
- The L.A. Mercurettes won the inaugural women's 440 relay in 47.7
