- Rex Cawley won his fourth consecutive -- and final -- Mt. SAC 440y/400m hurdle title in 50.9
- Parry O'Brien claimed his first shot title, throwing 60' 9-1/2"
- Irene Obera won the inaugural women's 100y championship, dashing 11.0
- In the high school pole vault competition, a Pomona High School student by the name of Bob Seagren finished fifth with a jump of 13 feet.
