Dave Wollman arrived at SMU in 1988 after serving for six years as an assistant at Stanford University. Prior to Stanford, Dave was an assistant at Purdue from 1981-1982. While at SMU, Wollman has coached 154 All-Americans and his men's and women's teams have finished in the top ten in the NCAA championships for the past eight years. Wollman has coached many NCAA champions and coached seven throwing athletes in the 2000 Olympic Games in Sydney. He is recognized as one of the premier throws coaches in the world. As an athlete, Dave won the NCAA Division II shot put title in 1977 for Central University in Indianapolis. He was also a four-year starter at defensive end for the football team. Dave has been a great supporter of the Mt. SAC Relays and has brought his teams to Walnut for many years. His athletes have always enjoyed coming to Mt. SAC and have performed well over the years. He has pointed out on several occasions that the Mt. SAC Relays are very important for his team. He is truly a great addition to the Coaches Hall of Fame. |
