Carl Lewis Farewell Tour to Continue at 1997
Mt. SAC Relays
Clearly one of history's greatest athletes, Carl Lewis will once
again highlight the 39th running of the Mt. SAC Relays. King
Carl has won 9 Olympic gold medals, including 4 consecutive in the
Long Jump, and 8 World Championships gold medals in his storied career.
He will make his only Southern California appearance in 1997 at
the meet here in Walnut. Lewis has been a fixture at the Mt. SAC relays
since 1981, capturing 3 long jump titles. In 1987, all 6 of his jumps
eclipsed the 38 foot barrier. And just 3 years ago, in a truly
spectacular race, he anchored the Santa Monica Club to a world record
in the 4x200 meter relay. There will certainly be more history
making performances during the 1997 edition of this great meet.
Track and field fans will not want to miss any of the action.
